Site-Specific Installation
Video and sound
Size: variable

The work explores the sound –
(High Water)
sirens of Acqua Alta
in Venice.
How does a siren affect human psychology?
What feeling does it evoke?
Does it propose a state of catastrophe and emergency?
The work solicits our perception that remains poised between the harmonic dance of the images taken under the microscope of natural elements and the sound of the acoustic signal that warns of the increase of the tide in the Venetian Lagoon. In a progressive crescendo, the natural cosmogony that tirelessly and inexorably moves before our eyes is cadenced by a sound that does not seem to belong to it, an alarm that refers to terrible consequences. The images become the representative of life, humanity, nature, culture, death, calamity and universality of human existence.
Images used in the video are the by-product of the installation
Images were captured using a mobile camera, as seen from the eyepiece of the microscope.
The slow melting of the ice immortalized here refers to the poles, to the rise of the oceans, through a cold and inexorable representation, which deliberately does not show where the water is.
The video is a minimal experiment
working like an hourglass;
echo
the temporal and ephemeral reflections.
The work describes a system progressing towards a maximum internal disorder.
