Constant Motion | 2018

Time-Based Media: 7minutes 13 sec

Gouache, watercolour and pen on paper

2D Animation: 7minutes 40 sec

The work is perceived as an intervention between the microbial, biological, ecological, and banal. Time and growth are the central ideas that zoom out and zoom in between the macroscopic and microscopic.

The video invokes a mind space for the viewer to construct their own personalised narratives using the symbolism and analogy of various elements like flies multiplying, pollination, Hanuman carrying Dronagiri mountain, clouds passing, borrowed text, scientific diagrams of cellular organelles hovering, release of dopamine hormones, different phases of embryo germination, maha-mrityunjaya (Sanskrit hymn), clocks falling down and more.

As the video begins, current demographics of Indian population starts to run on the bottom, starting from the current statistics: 1,380,076,832 and it increases up to 1,639,176,033 - a future projection of the population of human species in 2050 in India.
